L'evento
The Brera School of Decoration, in the activity of interdisciplinary support to its students, prepares the personal exhibition of Rachele Calisti as winner of the PREMIOHUS for Visual Arts organized by Spazio Hus in Milan. The choice of the commission was oriented after a detailed selection on the personality of the young Italian artist recognizing in her research interesting relationships between different linguistic-cultural systems, thanks to which she manages to give life to an interesting and coordinated cycle of works.
Starting from “ easily recognizable subjects, formal and cultural commonplaces”, Rachele Calisti prepares the installation space of the image with the aim of developing formal harmonies whose perception is out of balance with reality but also creating spaces of different interpretation during the fruition phase. What are instrumentally defined as “frames” – the result of a targeted geometric revisitation of the traditional form – in reality detail and cut out the gaze, provide and oblige the artist’s action itself to recompose graphic signs, photographic fragments extracted or generated from the internet, arriving at the expressive unity of the work.
Spazio HUS , whose name comes from the Danish term “HUS” which means “house”, is located in a suggestive place that is also home to HUS Milano, a creative and inspirational laboratory for architects, interior designers, designers and artists in general. Spazio HUS proposes itself as a meeting place and a place of contamination between different artistic experiences and paths, through a rich program of exhibitions of designers, artists, photographers and artisans from the Italian and international scene. In the wake of this dynamic and varied cultural proposal, the owner of HUS Milano, Vincenzo Panzuto, has promoted an Award aimed at the best students of the Brera Academy, in order to take a look at young art and support it.
Rachele Calisti was born in Amandola, in the Marche region, in 1997. From 2019 to 2022 she attended the painting course at the Academy of Fine Arts in Urbino and then moved to Milan where she studied Decoration with Crispino Simeone at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera. Since 2022 she has been involved in the curatorial management of exhibitions and events at Palazzo Bronzo, an artist-runspace and cultural association located in the historic center of Genoa. She has collaborated with Mefistofele Documenta, an artistic collective that has conducted happenings and experimental performances for Pinksummer Galley and in various festivals and theaters in Genoa. In 2023 she performed for the final event of ORDA, a workshop held by Jacopo Benassi on the occasion of Lunigiana Land Art. In 2024 she won the Hus prize dedicated to Decoration students at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera.
